Troubleshooting Guide
Fix common issues and get the most out of Baby Tracker.
Credential issues
Password resets depend on deployment policy—contact your administrator if repeated attempts fail.
Totals look wrong after imports
Duplicate uploads inflate KPIs—filter History, merge timestamps, and delete redundant rows.
Offline Mode & Sync Issues
Issue: Data is not syncing when back online.
Solution:
- Check your internet connection.
- Refresh the page - this triggers a sync attempt.
- Look for the pending sync badge in the navbar.
- If records are stuck, an administrator can clear the sync queue.
Photo Upload Issues
Issue: Photos are not uploading or showing 404 errors.
Solution:
- Check file size (max 5MB for profile pictures, 2MB for other photos).
- Use supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP.
- Verify the uploads directory has write permissions (755 on Linux).
- Clear browser cache and try again.
Session Timeout Issues
Issue: Session expires too quickly or too slowly.
Solution:
- Session timeout is configured by the administrator in the admin panel.
- Click "Extend Session" when the warning appears.
- Activity (clicks, typing, scrolling) automatically resets the timer.
Notification Issues
Issue: Notifications are not appearing or are delayed.
Solution:
- Ensure notifications are enabled in the admin settings.
- Notifications are checked every hour via cron job.
- Refresh the page to trigger a manual check.
- Sticky notifications persist until dismissed.
Chart Data Not Appearing
Issue: Growth charts or sleep charts show no data.
Solution:
- Ensure you have logged at least 2 weight measurements for growth charts.
- Check that you have selected the correct child.
- Try a different date range (Last Week, Last Month, All Time).
- Clear browser cache and refresh.
Browser Support
Supported Browsers:
- Google Chrome (latest 2 versions)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest 2 versions)
- Apple Safari (latest 2 versions)
- Microsoft Edge (latest 2 versions)
- Mobile browsers (iOS Safari, Chrome for Android)
Not Supported: Internet Explorer, older versions of Chrome/Firefox/Safari
Clearing Cache and Hard Refresh
How to clear cache:
- Chrome/Edge: Ctrl+Shift+Delete → Clear cached images and files
- Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+Delete → Clear cache
- Safari: Develop → Empty Caches (enable Develop menu first)
- Hard Refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
Export / Backup Data
To export your baby's data:
- Go to the Dashboard page.
- Click the "Save Report" button to download a text summary.
- For full database backup, contact your system administrator.
How to report an issue:
- Check the logs/ directory for error messages.
- Note the steps to reproduce the issue.
- Include browser version and operating system.
- Contact your system administrator with the details.
