- Apgar score (skin color, heartbeat, reflexes, muscle tone, breathing)
- Measurement of weight, length, head circumference
- Vitamin K prophylaxis to prevent bleeding
- Examination for external malformations
- pH value measurement from umbilical cord blood

- Breathing problems or unusual breathing sounds
